COMO Uma Paro is an intimate, 29 room resort featuring the most exclusive private villas in Bhutan with an enviable location in the Paro Valley; which puts you within striking distance of the country’s great cultural landmarks. The style combines local artisan-ship with COMO’s contemporary style.

COMO Uma Paro offers 9 exclusive private villas, 20 bedrooms and a COMO Shambhala Retreat. Pared-back interiors are accented with work by local artisans while the hotel restaurant, Bukhari, is a royal favourite. COMO Uma Paro provides intelligent access to some of the country’s main cultural highlights, including Tiger’s Nest monastery, and adventure sports such as the national sport of archery - all of them brought to life by COMO’s English-speaking local guides.

Guest rooms include multiple features which you would expect of a premium hotel, with satellite TV, minibars, Wi-Fi and COMO Shambhala bathroom amenities, to mention a few. Guest services include a fully licensed travel agency and ground handler in Bhutan, trekking, travel and tour assistance, concierge and butler services, a Business Centre with library and internet, and private cars with drivers.

The Bukhari Restaurant serves wholesome COMO Shambhala Cuisine, Western, Bhutanese, and Indian dishes. Much of the produce comes from the hotels own organic kitchen garden, which is maintained in partnership with local farmers from the Paro Valley, affording a bounty of fresh and vital ingredients. International dishes, too, are well regarded - Bhutan’s royal family regularly makes this their Paro restaurant of choice.

The Uma Bar offers all-day dining and a selection of fine wines, cocktails and healthy juices. It is a welcoming place for lunch or supper and can be booked out for private gatherings.

In this all-Buddhist country, COMO Uma Paro has developed a substantial COMO Shambhala Retreat sympathetic to the culture. Yoga and meditation is an important element of the experience as well as Asian-inspired treatments incorporating Bhutanese traditions in holistic wellness.

Four treatment rooms are available, with the health centre hosting an indoor yoga studio, steam rooms, a hot-stone bath house, an indoor pool with outdoor sundeck, as well as Asian-inspired holistic therapies developed by COMO Shambhala, including reflexology, Ayurveda, massage and facials.

The local surrounds have much to offer in addition to their exquisite beauty. Tiger’s Nest Monastery is the most endearing image of Bhutan. Legend has it that this cliffside fortress was where Guru Rinpoche landed on the back of a flying tigress, bringing Buddhism to Bhutan. Ta Dzong is Bhutan’s national museum, built as a watch tower and now home to a number of fascinating religious artefacts. Other notable mentions include Kyichu Lhakhang - one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, Chele La Pass - at 3,988m is the highest road pass in Bhutan, with beautiful scenic views, and last but not least, the capital of Bhutan, Thimpu.

The hotel sports multiple activities to suit adventurous tastes. Mountain biking tours range from gentle downhill runs to more challenging routes. One is afforded the opportunity to learn the techniques of Bhutan’s national sport, archery. Multiple night Himalayan excursions are available with stay-overs at various lodges accompanied by reflexology, Ayurvedic treatments, massages and facials. Alternate tours through Bhutan are available with privately guided helicopter flights.

COMO Uma Paro and COMO Uma Punakha offer exciting activities and excursions to enhance any visit to Bhutan. Choose from individual hotel packages or combine stays at both Uma properties to experience all that this magical country has to offer.
