Nestled in a historic property dating back to 1850, Hotel Santa Teresa Rio MGallery by Sofitel is in the heart of the suburb of Santa Teresa, also known as Rio’s Montmartre. With easy access to downtown Rio de Janeiro, Botafogo Beach, Marina da Glória and a 10-minute drive to Santos Dumont Airport, the boutique hotel is close to a few of Rio’s main tourist attractions and sights, such as Christ the Redeemer, the Sugar Loaf, Lapa, Parque das Ruínas, Sélaron Steps, the Santa Teresa Tram, local museums, and the Copacabana, Leme, Ipanema and Leblon beaches. The first MGallery by Sofitel in Brazil, Hotel Santa Teresa Rio offers history and tradition in the charming Santa Teresa neighborhood.

Known for hosting famous names such as Amy Winehouse, Alanis Morissette and Robert Plant, the property is the only five star hotel in the downtown area. The property owns 44 luxury accommodations, adorned with Brazilian artists and designer pieces. All rooms are furnished with king size beds, bathrooms with showers or baths, air conditioning, L’Occitane amenities, safe, minibar and bathrobes. Accomodations are situated in a 4,000 square meter area, surrounded by gardens, tropical patios, palm and fruit trees, with views reaching out to Guanabara Bay, Christ the Redeemer and the mountains of Teresópolis.

The property’s original style was carefully preserved to host a lobby, meeting room and customized apartments. The refined decoration of the space speaks to the history of Brazil’s culture and lands. Furniture and pieces created by Zemos, Sérgio Rodrigues, Rock Lane, Carassa, Studio Vitty and Oficina de Agosto inspire an environment both ecological and ethnical, with lots of coconut fiber, banana leaves, açaí, cotton, clay, clay slate and Brazilian hardwood. Different elements customize each room, creating an exclusive experience to each new stay at the hotel.

Térèze, the hotel’s restaurant, provides high-class cuisine and unique sensations through wonderful aromas and flavors. Headed by the Argentinean chef, Pablo Ferreyra, Michelin Guide Brazil 2015’s award winner, the meals serve mixed and multiple tastes from Brazil, Argentina and Spain, making Térèze a mandatory stopover in Santa Teresa. The fine selection of wines, which are carefully selected to make for a wonderful pairing are yet another great feature of the restaurant.

Under the former slave house arch, in the mansion quarters, the Lounge Descasados’ Bar exudes a young and casual atmosphere. Delicious sophisticated drinks created by chef Caroline Ramos are on offer, with the lounge providing a cosy, yet party filled atmosphere with a lively events schedule.  The Lounge Descados’ Bar is designed and facilitated in such a way that music rocks the night without detracting from the surrounding peace of the hotel.

Le Spa by L’Occitane is one of the highlights of the hotel for guests. In a comfortable and elegant environment, surrounded by tropical gardens and fruitful trees, a unique experience of relaxation embraced by nature is on offer. It holds a diverse range of treatments, from relaxing massages followed by aromatic baths to corporal and facial rituals; an invitation for pleasant evenings for relaxing and balancing mind and soul. The spa is the only one in the city of Rio which offers L’Occitane treatments.

The Santa Teresa Hotel MGallery hosts beautiful tropical gardens surrounded by captivating views of Santa Teresa, all finished with wonderful service and the facilities to match. A stay in this charismatic place is sure to invigorate the senses and imbue oneself with new-found energy.
